Bush's Mother's Day message (I SWEAR I did not make this up):
(hoping this is not a dupe--apologies in advance if it is)

"And I understand that for some, however, Mother's Day is a sad day for those who lost their lives in Oklahoma and Missouri and Georgia because of the tornadoes, are wondering whether or not tomorrow will be a bright and hopeful day."

That's right, to all of you out there who lost your lives, our president
is expressing his hope that for you tomorrow will be a brighter and more
hopeful day. Who, after all, could be more hopeful than the man who waved
hi to Stevie Wonder from across the room?

My source for the quote? Guess!

Colbert? John Oliver on the Daily Show? Letterman?

NO! BETTER!!!!!

1. The Republicans canceled Mothers Day this year anyway.
Republicans vote against Mother’s Day.»

On Wednesday, the House took up the seemingly uncontroversial H. Res. 1113, “Celebrating the role of mothers in the United States and supporting the goals and ideals of Mother’s Day.” The resolution initially passed 412 to 0, until Rep. Todd Tiahrt (R-KS) rose in protest:

Mr. Speaker, I ask for a recorded vote because I’m sure every member wants their mother to know that they have supported the goals of Mother’s Day.

Tiahrt’s mother, however, may be disappointed to know that her son did not support Mother’s Day. He and 177 other Republicans decided to cast their vote against mothers. Watch it:

When asked why the GOP switched their votes, House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) said, “Oh, we just wanted to make sure that everyone was on record in support of Mother’s Day.” (Even though he also was actually on record against Mother’s Day.) The Washington Post’s Dana Milbank reports that this move was a procedural tactic to “bring the House to a standstill.”

2. You know, I saw that on CNN and thought I'd mis-read it.
But I guess he really did say Mother's Day was sad for those who lost their lives.

Maybe he meant to say, lost their WIVES.

3. Maybe he did
After all, there 26 letters in the alphabet, and expecting him to pick the correct
one out of 26 every time is probably being more demanding than we have a right to be.
