Psycho RW Patient today...
Can't get rid of him...he's dentally compliant pays his bills, and doesn't grab the staff.

He starts in on me as soon as I walk in the room...I won't post what slanderous remarks he made about our two candidates, since I feel that's inappropriate (luv those newbies who post what their RW 'family members sent them today'). It was pretty awful and he was screaming at the top of his lungs.

So I simply said the three words, "four dollar gas" and he REALLY went off..."so you're gonna tell me that that's Bush's fault?"

PC: I didn't say anything about Bush...

Rethug: Blah blah blah patriotism blah blah blah liberal crimes blah blah blah faith in Jesus...

PC: Yes..if Jesus came back today, I'm certain he would be a registered Republican.

he had never thought about that before and said..."You're right..."

We started talking about his molar lack-of-contact which was causing chronic painful food impaction.

PC: Well, you'll never go hungry during your recession, now will you?

He didn't think that was funny at all...

Left cordially however...that's because I participate with his insurance company and don't hurt him...much.

A wingnut client wouldn't let me off the phone before I heard all his meandering explanations about why none of his previous predictions panned out.

It gets old.

7. I imagine the only thing worse than an arrogant true believer
is an arrogant true believer with a toothache. You do have my sympathy.

At least when I was working I was in a position to sedate them out of my misery, something they were all too willing to take me up on.

8. A couple of questions off subject if you don't mind me asking?
Edited on Fri May-09-08 11:06 AM by NNN0LHI
I am in the process of having all my old silver amalgam fillings removed and replaced with white composite fillings at the suggestion of the doctor who treats my gingivitis. My periodontist said it would help in my treatment because the fillings were so old and had began to wash away.

Everything was going good until I went my periodontist and he noticed the dentist had left a couple of spots where I now lacked molar contact after the new fillings so I brought it up to the dentist doing the work and he fixed them no problem last week.

My question is was this poor workmanship originally done by the dentist and should I expect to be billed to have them fixed the second time? Seems to me like it is warranty work.

Just your opinion if it was you?

Thank you.

Don

9. Generally don't handle specifics but I will say
that I hope that the fillings really were washing out. ...and yes, warranty work, as it were. You should not have to pay for closing contacts...

BTW: "Practice getting stale? gross receipts down? Try replacing all amalgams with composites".

10. Thank you very much for your help

I really don't think it was this dentist trying to drum up business. My periodontist is the one who kept on my rear end (3 or 4 times before I finally went to a dentist) about getting it done to help with the treatment for my gingivitis.

He said the old amalgam fillings were very old and had deteriorated to the point that the crevices in them were holding food and leaking which the perio said would detract from the care I was receiving for the gum disease. He said the white fillings would seal much better and be much smoother and be less susceptible to holding food particles. I also had two chipped teeth the perio wanted repaired with composite before one of those teeth cracked and it turned into a real horror show.

My normal dentist who I went to first was on the conservative side and wasn't interested in the work so I ended up having to get an opinion from another dentist who agreed to do it. He began drilling, filling, and billing that day.

Incidentally about half (3 or 4) of the old amalgam fillings he has done so far had leaked and had developed new decay beneath them.

So it really wasn't a case of "receipts being down" for the dentist who did the work or anything. I have pretty good dental insurance which covers most of the work as long as I stretch it out over a few years to avoid going over the yearly maximum. But the real plus since starting this is I have discovered that I don't need Novocain for a tooth filling. No pain whatsoever. I don't know if I was always that way or I have become less sensitive to pain as I grew older? At least I don't have to come home and chew my tongue and lips until they are bleeding without realizing it any more.

Thanks again.

Don
