w00t! My town's farmer's market is now open on Wednesdays (pic)
and so I dropped by after work. Normally it has only been opened on Saturday mornings. Now I can get fresh, local organic food mid-week AND support our local farmers! Go here to find out what's near you: http://www.localharvest.org/

Free range eggs, organic fresh strawberries, butter lettuce, zucchini,
baby bok-choy, and a box of hand-made chocolates. Yum!

The eggs look great, imho:

3. Mmmm..... Those strawberries look good enough to eat.
Unlike the overgrown, tasteless, chemically-treated ones at the super-market.

5. I'm trying to slowly get the grocery store crap out of my life
for the most part, because it's not good for any of us.

After reading "Animal Vegetable Miracle" and "Omnivore's Dilemma" my eyes were opened well and truly.

4. I love the color selection among the eggs.
That's how they look from my egg farmer too.

9. I think
they were $4. Comparable to the grocery store prices but without the chemicals, and actually freshly picked!

11. Those look like my garden strawberries.
If so, they just explode with flavor in your mouth. I usually pick and eat them right off the plant every morning.

15. We bought 1/2 share subscription of a local CSF
... that we found through that same website. CSF = Community Supported Farm. It's right down the road from us. They have 5 acres and are selling 6 shares this season. 1 share = food for about 4 people (picked up weekly). We bought 1/2 share, but may double that next year, since there are only two of us. First pickup will be in late May and last in early Nov. What kinds of veggies, fruits, and herbs you get varies with time of the season, but they said last year that 1 share was about 7-10 pounds of food per week. Our half share is $300 for the season. There's another farm a little farther away that we also want to check out because they have eggs and meat and some different varieties of fruits. Both places are natural/organic growers.

17. The Farmers Market where I live sucks.
You have to know your prices here, a lot of times they charge way more for their produce than what you would spend in a grocery store that sells local produce. I think the farmers markets by my house take advantage of rich yuppies who think it's very European to shop in an open market.
