When will Congress Have the Balls to Reclaim its Power?
Specifically, the war power? Congress as a whole has been so silent on the issue of war-making powers as to be an embarassment. The President does NOT have the unilateral power to declare war, and Congress must stop worrying about polling data, unpopular decisions, etc. and do their F'ing jobs. That means demanding a vote on all declarations of war (or police actions to use an awful phrase) and to immediately cut all funding if the President chooses to ignore this vital step in the process.

Congress is in violation of the US Constitution when it cedes powers to the president. And it is in violation of morality and humanity when it does so out of fear of reprisal. Shame on them.

2. congress holds the purse - and they should act accordingly
when your childs acts up in a store - whining for you buy something - you withhold the money. Congress should treat junior just like a whining, petulant brat. That is the only way to get his attention.

3. Check it out
The War Powers Act of 1973. It was such a bad idea, even Richard Nixon vetoed it. The Congress overrode his veto, and that's how Fuckface was able to invade Iraq. It's a terrible, terrible thing.

a Congress which is incompetent and unwilling to exercise responsibility and authority of their office is a major contributor to the current disasterous situation.

5. Democratic congresscritters are scared of republicans. Expect Congress to boldly "reclaim",....
it's Constitutional powers upon the taking office of a Democratic President. They'll meekly give them up again upon the next republican President, of course.

6. It'll happen when we vote out all those old maids in pants
who quake in their Guccis at the mere mention of reining in a White House gone power mad.

I'm talking about timid conservatives in both parties, folks.

8. Apparently when we elect a new Congress
We cannot keep pointing the finger at Bush and the Republicans, we have to be willing to take a look at the enablers in our own party and there are many great new Democrats running in primaries this year.
