The Full Committee will hold two days of hearings to examine the current lack of hospital emergency surge capacity on Monday, May 5, at 10 a.m. and Wednesday May 7, 2008, at 9:30 a.m. in 2154 Rayburn House Office Building.
The hearings will focus on the widening mismatch between the growing demand for emergency care and available supply, impact of the Administration’s Medicaid regulations on hospital emergency surge capacity, and the ability of hospitals to respond to a mass casualty event, such as a terrorist attack using conventional explosives or natural disaster.
