Elizabeth Edwards: McCain’s health plan ’shows he is completely out of touch’ with reality.»

Center for American Progress fellow Elizabeth Edwards, who has in the past pointed out that Sen. John McCain’s (R-AZ) health care policies would exclude people with preexisting conditions like herself, appeared on MSNBC today to discuss the issue. Noting that employer-based health care typically costs families about $12,000, Edwards explained that McCain’s paltry $5,000 tax credit proposal is woefully inadequate:

If Sen. McCain thinks that individuals — who are at a bargaining power disadvantage from big companies buying lots and lots of polices — are going to go out and by comparable policies for $5,000 it shows that he is completely out of touch with what is happening in the health care system in America today.

As The New Republic’s Jonathan Cohn put it, McCain’s “great new plan isn’t new or great. And it still wouldn’t help Elizabeth Edwards get decent insurance.”

3. Actually they are in touch with reality... that is a reality he and his cronies
like... it is a reality where they can steal and get richer

So yes... to answer your question... all of them are in touch with the reality they love

4. The insurance (medical only) where my husband works
is $0 for the employee, $400 a month just for spouse, and $700 a month for family coverage.

5. OUCH!
How do people do it, or should I say, that's why there are so many uninsured Americans. This is twisted; something has got to change.

6. National Healthcare...
Edited on Tue Apr-29-08 04:48 PM by N4457S
...isn't going to happen when we've already borrowed so much for the war and we couldn't afford the tax cuts of the last several years.

We also have to support the dollar and there are only a few ways to do that. Interest rates are going up. They have to. The banks have to rebuild their reserves and that will take several years...approximately the length of this coming recession. Most of Wall Street already thinks we're in one.

Jay Rockefeller just killed the single payer healthcare bill that was in committee.

It isn't going to happen. I don't think it was ever going to happen.

Why do you think the media have stopped talking about it?

8. It's time we stopped paying for the members of Congress' health care. Can't afford it!
They don't deserve what they won't allow for us all! Screw 'em!

9. BINGO!
How many US citizens have lost their insurance, or had their premiums skyrocket when they can't afford it - but these fat bastards have full coverage?

TAKE it AWAY from them. Permanently.

We'll consider giving it back when EVERYONE else is fully covered with the same insurance THEY had.
