Amnesty Unveils Shock ‘Waterboarding’ Film

An American expert in torture techniques has denounced his government for allowing “waterboarding” to be practised against terror suspects, just as a graphic advertisement showing the brutal reality of the technique is unveiled to British cinema-goers.

Malcolm Nance, who trained hundreds of US servicemen and women to resist interrogation by putting them through “waterboarding” exercises, demanded an immediate end to the practice by all US personnel.

He said: “They seem to think it is worth throwing the honour of 220 years of American decency in war out of the window. Waterboarding is out-and-out torture, and I’m deeply ashamed President Bush has authorised its use and dragged the US’s reputation into the mud.”

Mr Bush faced criticism recently when he vetoed a Bill that would have outlawed such methods of “enhanced interrogation” – the White House refuses to describe it as torture.

Mr Nance said: “You have a purpose-built table with straps in a pattern so that people can be strapped and unstrapped quickly. The head is strapped down in such a way so they cannot resist the water. The head is elevated so the water goes down the oesophagus.

1. This can't go unpunished...

We must bring these sadistic bastards to account. The whole damn bunch of them -- from Bush on down to Yoo and whoever shredded draft copies of Yoo's various letters and memos explaining how torture can't possibly be torture because, if it was, the US would never employ it and, further, would condemn any other country barbaric enough to use it.

Therefore, since key officials in the US government are OK with waterboarding, it must not be torture. It's only logical.

If they don't hang for anything else, they should hang for this. And gawd knows there's enough blatant criminality, high treason and capital crimes to assure the convictions and subsequent demises of dozens of these vampires.

But this is special and confirms for the entire world once again that the US is the world's top booster of state-supported terrorism and its most feared and hated rogue state.

The fact that my taxes are paying the salaries of monsters employed by the federal government who practice this outrage all around the world... worse yet, the fact that my taxes are paying the salaries of the John Yoos and David Addingtons of the world -- not to mention the bastards at the very top of this poisoned food chain who HAVE ADMITTED to signing off on torture, and specifically waterboarding...

This simply can't go on. And since impeachment -- richly deserved, never more appropriate -- awaits the glorious day Ms. Nancy's primary challenger threatens her political career sufficiently to force her to do her fucking job, it's up to the citizenry to figure out how to impose our will on the bastards who authorized this obscene program.

I just wish I had some useful ideas. I just know this has to stop. Americans have got to realize that this isn't normal and that they're complicit by their silence.

There's got to be some semblance of public conscience still out there that the Bushies haven't managed to neuter or kill. Or maybe not...
