It seems to me that the cell phone issue in polling is A BIG BIG DEAL!
I have a daughter heading off to college next fall, and NONE of her college-aged pals have landlines. And they're ALL voting for Obama (this is in CA) but my question is, since Obama HAS been turning out the youth vote in droves, how can they have telephone polling excluding cell phones and have it be even a little accurate?

1. If it were that big a factor...
then we'd be seeing it in every state. But the polls with a few glaring exceptions have been fairly accurate. If the Cell phone issue were that big a factor, then we'd be seeing EVERY poll wrong in every state. But that just hasn't been teh case.

I'd like to think it was true, but the realist in me says it's not as much of a factor as it's made out to be.

3. I'm a senior will cell phone only.
I know several other seniors on fixed income that have given up land lines in favor of low-cost pay as you go cell phone plans. It may be more common than most people realize.

5. What is more common than people think is the under twenty five
population that doesn't bother to vote or bother to learn anything about civics...Let us hope that situation changes but I won't hold my breath..

7. Yeah
It's almost as big of a problem as the over 25 population that doesn't read and doesn't know anything about civics that votes for lower taxes and killing people on the other side of the world.

11. I think it is a bigger problem because supposedly they are more educated.
And yet don't vote against those idiots you posted about..Imagine if our younger people bothered to get involved we probably wouldn't need to worry about all those that vote against their own interests.

4. I Suspect This is a Big Reason for Both the Inaccuracy of Some Polls
and the unusual divergence among pollsters. It's not easy to correct, and doesn't bode very well for the future of polling. On the other hand, that might be a good thing if it leads people to vote their convinctions rather than for the leader.

6. We were also told that non-polling of cell phone owners meant Kerry was really winning.
I am rooting for Obama 100%- but I'm not sure we can hang our hats on the cell phone thing- I hope you are right.

8. Kerry DID win. The vote count was fictional here and there
where it meant electoral gains for bush

9. If the margin isnt enough to keep them from stealing it, it's not enough.
Especially when no top people in the party are willing to back you up in your claim of a stolen election...I hope these un-polled cell phone voters would be enough to pad any potential fraud, but who knows...

I dont disagree with you greatly- but as long as the DEM leadership is silent on election fraud, we may as well factor it in as part of the process...It's the chance they took and apparently the DEM leadership is willing to play in a rigged game, for what-ever reason.

There may be a few cell phone users not being polled, but the last time we were told that, it didnt matter, stolen election or not...

12. I remember that! I was surprised then that the polls came out accurately.
the only way I can explain it is that people who have ONLY cell phones are less likely to be a regular, committed voter. Perhaps this population are just less settled living in one place, more likely transient, which may mean they don't stay in one place long enough to bother registering to vote...
