ABC let voters down with last night's abysmal debate.

Bad debates aren't just painful to watch — they actually hurt the country.

Hi,

If you missed the Democratic presidential debate on ABC Wednesday night, Editor & Publisher called it
"perhaps the most embarrassing performance by the media in a major presidential debate in years."

Moderators George Stephanopoulos and Charlie Gibson spent the first 50 minutes obsessed with distractions
that only political insiders care about--gaffes, polling numbers, the stale Rev. Wright story, and the old-news
Bosnia story. And, channeling Karl Rove, they directed a video question to Barack Obama asking if he loves
the American flag or not. Seriously!

I just signed a petition to ABC and other media that says: "Debate moderators abuse the public trust every
time they ask trivial questions about gaffes and 'gotchas' that only political insiders care about.

Enough with the distractions-

-ABC and other networks must focus on issues that affect people's daily lives."

I'm really hoping there's a real blowback on not just ABC but the entire punditocracy next week in Senator Obama's favor. Gibbie and Streptacocus showed who the real "elite" were and how little regard they have for the "average American"...ya know, the one who is bitter! Like a majority of us.

17. we are going to boycott advertised products on ABC

which means we will have to watch the damned channel to get at least some of their major advertisers. That hits them where it hurts!

I have to admit, we are hooked on "Jeopardy" and yes, nearly all of their ads are from Big Pharma (which we don't use). That is the one and only program from ABC that we watch so it's going to be a task to get a list going. At least I did sign the petition and I have emailed the head of ABC yesterday too, expressing my disgust at the handling of the debate.

Petitions and emails are a better way but sometimes boycotts can be very effective.

There's no way to get everyone to remember the list and most will forget in short time.

I think the petition and letters and phone calls might work better.
