Billion Dollar Paydays

Remember, oh, what, a couple of weeks ago? Democrats and even a few Republicans in the Senate said they would absolutely, positively help American homeowners facing the ugliness of foreclosure brought on by - yet again - the lying, cheating, fraudulent tactics of the mortgage and financial outlaws now managing the country's cash flow. Well, guess how all that's turning out. The good senators approved last week a tidy little bill titled (ha-ha-ha-ha) the Foreclosure Prevention Act.

Nice title. But, it's all horseshit. The primary focus of the bill is to provide billions of dollars in tax breaks - for automakers, airlines, alternative energy producers and other industries, as well as home builders. The clutch of rapidly diminishing consumer watch-dog agencies say the bill amounts to government handouts to big business, and shows how the credit crisis, while nearly destroying the housing and financial markets, (along with the hopes of millions of U.S. citizens that they, too, can have maybe, just maybe, a slice of the American Dream) has created yet more, always more, opportunities for legal theft for those companies and corporations that set us on this path of financial meltdown to begin with.

And the struggling homeowner? The family facing foreclosure and possibly the street? Gosh, somehow those folks were, um, overlooked, ignored, stepped around.

It never changes, does it? No matter how greedy the wealthy become, no matter how much they take from the rest of us, no matter how many laws are broken, no matter how much suffering these parasites dump on retirees, struggling middle class families, children - no matter how much they take and take and take it's never enough. Never. They want it all.

In addition, according to the New York Times, provisions in the Senate bill will provide the nation�s biggest home builders with enormous tax refunds (money taken directly from the struggling, gasping working class) that will accrue to their bank accounts by charging their current losses against the huge profits they made three or four years ago.
�This is our biggest legislative effort since the Tax Reform Act of 1986,� said Jerry M. Howard, chief executive of the National Association of Home Builders. Hundreds of the association�s members flooded the district offices of representatives and senators while they were home for the spring recess last month, like a horde of locusts chewing the life out of everything in its path.

Meanwhile the Times also reports on the billion dollar paydays (the billion dollar paydays) of hedge fund managers who are chewing through and devouring every thing in their sight as they continue to invent meaningless financial products that develop nothing, create nothing, are nothing more than huge gambling rackets that use the money from the endless flow of uneducated and uninformed "consumers" who are, in fact, being consumed.

Annual incomes in the billions of dollars to these degenerate parasites while the median yearly income of an American family is roughly $60,000. As has been pointed out over the course of history, a society can, and ultimately will, explode into bloody revolution when the disparity in income - the difference between the "high" and the "low" - reaches the levels we are seeing now in the U.S.

Ah, but, never mind. The Roman Catholic Pope is in the U.S. today and President George W. Bush is celebrating the sanctity of life.
