OH MY GAWD! IT'S THE POPE!
and Lil Boots is walking out to the tarmac in hopes that some good rubs off on him and raises his poll numbers, at least among catholics.

Of course, it would be poetic justice, if the Pope laid a right cross on his nose, for war, torture and more. A true message from god.

3. Guess who's NOT coming to dinner?
(per Rachel Maddow on yesterday's show)

Bush will be meeting the Pope at the airport, and hosting a HUGE dinner in his honor at the White House (approx 1200 people will be there... More than for the Queen of England).

The Pope will NOT be attending the dinner. When asked, Dana Perino's assistance said that he did not know all the details of the Pope's busy schedule..

A little research showed that the Pope has NOTHING on his schedule at the time of this huge dinner...

8. I doubt very much the Pope is trying to snub Bush
he wouldn't go to DC if he wanted to do that.

12. I read somewhere that the Pope will be dining with some Bishops
and other local Catholic leaders instead of Shrub. I think it's pretty funny! I would have thought Shrub's minions would have contactd the Vatican to find out if the Popster would be available for dinner before they scheduled one, publicized it, and then had to tell everyone he wouldn't be attending. That sounds like another screwup to me.

Me, I'm always reminded of Janeane Garofalo and her
line in Dogma when she's trying to get past
the anti-abortion protesters and to her job in the
women's clinic:

"Holy shit, it's the Pope!"

And all the protesters run off to where whe's
pointing...

32. I remember it from a previous pope's visit
many years ago, a pope (John? John-Paul?) came to detroit. Pope-on-a-rope was a popular item, though I think the Vatican frowned on it.

It's back.
