I hope Obama and HRC put the knives away long enough to rebut mclame's foul speech.

They both should be piling on him.

The cameras should cut away so we can view his audience because it sounds like canned applause to me.

1. Tax cuts gave the wealthy investing class the mad money to speculate.
How'd that work out so far?

7. Exactly. The cuts for them were a new handout to go gamble
with in the markets. They gambled, we lost.

2. Tried and true method for the GOP
They love to tell people that they're going to cut their taxes. Of course they never mention that the bulk of those tax cuts will go to the wealthy, and that the working class and poor will be lucky if they even notice a difference. They also don't mention that cutting taxes means cutting programs like education, medicaid, etc.

8. His speech has been going on CNN for what, 20 minutes? Long,
uninterrupted coverage. But there is no guarantee of fairness without resurrecting the Fairness Doctrine.

14. Raygun, the granddaddy of all GOP tax cutters, actually doubled
the middle class's and poor's taxes, while significantly reducing the uber wealth's taxes.

When I look at my tax payments, it is not the federal income tax that eats up all my hard work and money. I can get all sorts of deductions, from children to mortgage payments to college tuition, that reduce my federal income tax. It is FICA (Social Security and Medicare) that is so expensive.

Only people who make more than about $97,000 a year don't have to pay Social Security. So in essence, the poor and middle class carry the largest tax burden. Don't let right wingers fool you. The uber wealthy pay a whole lot less taxes when you calculate in FICA.

6. I heard him and you beat me to posting!
I wouldn't mind a bigger exemption for dependents, but only if it was for a limited number of children. I see no reason to encourage a population explosion with tax policy. I think "affordability" should be part of a family's decision without regard to getting another tax break, either by reducing taxable income or creating additional tax credits. I really think we should grandfather in a change: same exemption, but only for five dependants starting in 2010, then four in 2013, and then end it with three in 1016. Something like that. If peoplewant more kids, fine, but don't expect the govt to subsidize it.

11. he's trying to sound like Obama -
he'll talk to everyone on both sides of the aisle
he's not in it because he feels he is the only one capable
he'll wake up every day thinking about the American people
....

Oh, and he sounded as if he were speaking to junior high school students.

15. Of course tax cuts for the rich and spend spend spend on the
military. $3 billion a week for the 100 year war!

I'm sorry what was the question? Did they ask him how to fix the economy or how to wreck it?
