Although some might find the following Doonesbury strip humorous....
...but this is exactly what our soldiers and Marines are facing on a daily basis. The insurgents are tough, resourceful, disciplined and on their own terrain, our forces, as magnificient as they are, are not trained in language skills or the subtlties of insurgent operations (Special Forces excluded, but their numbers are miniscule compared to the forces necessary). I got a chill just reading this:

1. I don't think it was meant to be humorous...
and Trudeau deserves a Pulitzer imo for his work on the war.

2. Biting satire in comic strip form..
effective, too, I'd say. Definitely NOT meant to be funny.

3. I wonder if the deranged, psychotic man....
...occupying the White House would even comprehend this strip? Or would he stare at it with a smirking, dense look plastered on his puss?

4. His thought would most likely be
that Trudeau really UNDERSTANDS why we have to fight them over there.

11. I doubt he could grasp it
If I'm not mistaken, one of the symptoms of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is an inability to seperate fact from fantasy. The chimp sure seems to have a real hard time in that area.

5. I think it is meant to be funny
Funny in the way Swift's A Modest Proposal was funny. Not funny in the way The Simpsons is funny. Big difference. :hi:

9. Yes
You don't laugh because it's just a joke, you laugh because the whole situation has become so fucked up on a titanic scale that it's become a colossal, tragic farce.

10. When was the last time Trudeau won a Putlitzer...
Doonesbury has been so good for so long, I think people often take it (and him) for granted.
