Are there any DUers who are active feminist activists?
And if so, what is the best thing for the younger generation to do to help fight against the erosion of our rights?

2. Interesting site, but I'm looking for advice that is more about doing something
I don't have oodles of money to send to NOW or anything, but I was wondering how to get active and stop this rollback of rights.

7. Join groups that are making a difference
NOW is one. Start here: http://www.now.org and search for a chapter in your area.

Amnesty International has a women's rights branch http://www.amnestyusa.org/Our-Priorities/Violence-Against-Women/page.do?id=1011012&n1=3&n2=39 (specific mostly to stopping violence against women)

Check here: http://www.feminist.com/activism/collegeactivism.html (you mentioned an interest in what "younger generation" can do - this page is about "starting a feminist group on your campus")

Planned Parenthood and other clinics would almost certainly welcome any offer to volunteer. Find out what services are available in your area and go do something.

Write letters.
Protest.
Donate.
Volunteer.

8. I've been thinking about your question since last night.
I've been trying to support election reform because if our votes don't count, it doesn't matter who we can rally to our issues. I know that seems very indirect but the infrastructure of our democracy is crumbling. It's doubtful to me most of the time that contacting my reps even matters. It's as if they tacitly know that our elections are dirty and so have somewhat stopped listening. That needs to change.

Other than that, trying to be an information gathering person. I'm on a lot of lists that alert me to local and national actions. If I see them already circulating, I lay back. If they need a push, I disseminate them.

Not very satisfying but, there it is.

9. I presume you mean our rights as women?
I think the best thing is the same thing we all started doing 35-40 years ago: never let anything go. Get on the case of everyone who second-classes us. If it looks innocent, be nice as well as clear. If it looks intentional, take off the gloves. If it's a boss, find a new job. If it's an SO, make sure he understands what time it is and what he needs to do (substituting "she" in the rare instance where appropriate).

Our rights and nothing less, their rights and nothing more.

10. Here's a start
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=3129777&mesg_id=3129777

Try keeping that post kicked. And more importantly, give some consideration as to why it has as few replies as your own post...
