SPRINGFIELD - ... Nobel Peace Prize winner Jody Williams .. said she believes there is a strong underlying desire by people to right the wrongs of the world.

"When people talk about young people not caring, I don't see that. Everywhere I speak, I meet kids that really do care," she said ...

"It's absolutely a waste of time if you do nothing and only complain about things. And you can't use the excuse that if you're not a full-time activist, then you can't be an activist. You can still pick out an organization you agree with, and contribute some of your time," Williams said.

The 1997 winner of the Nobel Peace Prize for her work to ban land mines, Williams .... convinced hundreds of organizations around the world to join together in a coalition, even though the groups had varied interests ...
