1. That's the question to ask. They said this is their last chance...
So has it succeeded?

15. Did you see Riverbends post yesterday?
"Let me clear it up for any moron with lingering doubts: It’s worse. It’s over. You lost. You lost the day your tanks rolled into Baghdad to the cheers of your imported, American-trained monkeys. You lost every single family whose home your soldiers violated. You lost every sane, red-blooded Iraqi when the Abu Ghraib pictures came out and verified your atrocities behind prison walls as well as the ones we see in our streets. You lost when you brought murderers, looters, gangsters and militia heads to power and hailed them as Iraq’s first democratic government. You lost when a gruesome execution was dubbed your biggest accomplishment. You lost the respect and reputation you once had. You lost more than 3000 troops. That is what you lost America. I hope the oil, at least, made it worthwhile."

38. Man - no kidding.
And WHY couldn't America see that???

So sad. So disgraceful. So tragic. Such a waste. And yet we've gotta press on with it for the next round of "another six months..." - in a continuing series.

4. DUH!!!
It's going GREAT! Didn't you see Laura on Larry King? We're down to just one annoying bombing per day - and it's the media talking about that one little bombing that's 'discouraging' everyone.

The streets of Baghdad are now strewn with sweets and flowers - just as earlier predicted! We're being greeted as liberators! We've turned the corner!

If you'd stop getting your news from that damned liberal media, you would have known by now that victory is ours!

18. Hiya Nance.. I was sick for a couple days and missed her comment
I managed to finally see it right after I saw the bombing of the soccer game that killed 18 children yesterday. I guess that was her one bomb. All I could see in my head all day after that was my kids playing soccer. Makes you want to just beat some sense into her. She's lucky I'm a pacifist.

24. I keep wondering if she's part of the WH spin-cycle ...
... or if she just keeps herself totally clueless.

I'm leaning towards the latter. If I were married to GWB, had Bab's for a mother-in-law, and my kids turned out to be self-centered, totally useless human beings, I'd want to distance myself from reality as much as possible, too.

6. Bumbling Ragtag Regiment Achieves Heartwarming Victory In Iraq
http://www.theonion.com/content/news/bumbling_ragtag_regiment_achieves

BAGHDAD—The war in Iraq came to a sudden, complete, and ultimately heartwarming end after the U.S. Army's hapless 115th Regiment defeated the insurgent forces in what military observers are terming a startling victory for the war's most notorious underdog unit.

"I hereby announce the cessation of hostilities in the country of Iraq," said the head of U.S. Central Command, Gen. John Abizaid, grudgingly singling out the ragtag bunch of misfits at a press conference Monday. "In all my years of military experience, I've never seen a sorrier group of bumbling, no-good, dangerously incompetent yahoos as the 115th. But, against my better judgment, and in recognition of their valor, courage, hijinks, and hilarity, I'm nominating each of these lovable bastards for the Congressional Medal of Honor."

... it keeps spinning your clothes, over and over and over. Once your clothes are in, you can't get them out - but you CAN keep adding more.

Eventually your laundry becomes tattered -- but it only costs a billion dollars a week to operate!

27. Thank you for the warm welcome.
I agree, they don't stand a chance with their current lineup, but that won't stop them from creating their "alternate reality" of victory if they think it will help them in '08.

they show up to WIN! and they'll do & say anything, create that alternate reality as you've mentioned, to win

14. When they said this was *'s last chance...
they meant this was his last chance to use this particular strategy, but then again...did they really say this was his last chance??? Maybe what they really said was this would be his second to last chance.

28. Here's what I don't get...
If the GOPers (like Mitch McConnell) keep saying this is our last chance, then why do it at all? Why not cut our losses now? Apparently they don't have the "courage of their convictions" that what we're fighting for over there is really worth it.

if you elect her. Do you believe that?

Really-people unless we elect some different leaders or walk en masse out in the streets out of work and school for a year at least nothing is going to happen at all. Check back in 2009 okay?

I wrote a letter to PM Harper or Canada yesterday asking, among other things, that we unite with the rest of the free world behind the surge and just get the war over with already. I figure it's too long for posting here but you can read it on my website http://www.julescarlysle.com I'm new here is that inappropriate?
