Nutricide
Criminalizing Natural Health, Vitamins, and Herbs

Codex Alimentarius:

Codex is very real and is happening now and here are some facts that will effect YOU within the next two years if the pharmaceutical companies get their way on this (which currently looks very likely!!)

1) There will be no labeling on food - so that cloned and genetically modified food cannot be identified by the consumer.

2) All health foods/drinks and complimentary medicines will be outlawed and pharmaceutical substitutes brought in to replace them (with higher profit margins for the health food shops!)

3) An end to organic farming

1. I've been seeing this posted here time and again for 6 years now.
I don't believe this will ever happen.

But, I've been wrong before.

4. Well, some of it is true

Nutritional labeling doesn't include GM content or whether the foodstuff has been irradiated to control pests. They were specifically exempted by the GOP's corporate Congress.

The other two are fantasies. What has been proposed is that supplement companies undergo enough testing that the consumer is assured that s/he is getting what s/he is paying for, something that the occasional studies that have been done have said is not true. The GOP has tried to broaden the definition of what is "organic," but they haven't gotten very far with that.

I would like to know that supplements contain the correct substance with the correct potency in the dose advertised on the label. That should be the minimum in assurance and it's not being done now.

Regulating the market isn't all bad news, you know.

2. fwiw
canada already has much more strict (and ridiculous) legislation restricting supps

both left and rightwingers in congress have been guilty of trying to gut DSHEA and diminish access

recall for example the RIDICULOUS ephedrine wars, where attempts were made (somewhat successful at one point) to ban its sale
