McCain Says Terrorists May Try to Influence Election
~

Republican presidential candidate John McCain said on Friday he fears that al Qaeda or another extremist group might attempt spectacular attacks in Iraq to try to tilt the U.S. election against him.

~

McCain, at a town hall meeting in this Philadelphia suburb, was asked if he had concerns that anti-American militants in Iraq might ratchet up their activities in Iraq to try to increase casualties in September or October and tip the November election against him.

“Yes, I worry about it,” McCain said. “And I know they pay attention because of the intercepts we have of their communications … The hardest thing in warfare is to counter someone or a group of individuals who are willing to take their own lives in order to take others.”

Don't we hear this excuse every election cycle, that the terrorists are trying to influence the election?

So this says that terrorists want Democrats to win, which is completely absurd, but is presented as fact in the media with little rebuttal.

4. I thought that the spin was that, if they knew we were listening in,
that would be aiding the terrorists?

Shouldn't someone in the media ask McCain about that? If the terrorists know we're listening in, they'll clam up?

5. If some extremist group stages another attack, it will HELP McCain, not hurt him
The public tends to shift towards Republicans in time of national security crisis (don't ask me why).

8. Faux News ... and the complacent MSM ...
all run the "Scaremerica!" line ...

It's the shotgun/chocolate cake approach ("good chocolate" from a Gallagher show - if it sticks to the wall, that's gooooood chocolate ...) - if there's an attack, it's because the liberals were looking like they'd win ... if there's no attack, it's because Bush is doing a great job ...

7. McSame is trying to take Iraq off the table.
He put himself all in on the Surge to Victory Accomplished Express Bus and now that is looking (quelle surprise) like just another blight at the end of the tunnel turd in a punchbowl, so as always, it's the tursts.
