How dare they. I'm tired of hearing from white pundits NOW attempting to "start a race discussion" on the radio, tv, in the papers, etc...

First of all, how dare you "Start" the race discussion NOW! Where the hell have you been all my life? Oh wait. Now that its POSSIBLE we will actually ELECT a black man, YOU decide the racial differences are NOW news? You people could and should have used your air time to discuss this for YEARS! Fucking phonies.

The 'discussion' HAS been going on for years. In the black community but guess what? Nobody else has been listening. They are no more qualified to RHETORICALLY 'discuss' the issues of race than THIS white guy is.

How about we give some REAL air time to some REAL discussion and my advice to them is sit down, shut up for a while and REALLY listen to the 'discussion' out there.

:argh:

8. Not just white radio but also TV
The young pin-head, from the View today, expressed her anger over being classified as "a typical white woman," in Obamas speech. I can't how dumb and naive she is. I am an elderly white woman and my daughters had/have a better perception of black history than she does.

Elizabeth Asselback is offended and angry that Obama referred to his grandmother during the 1960's as "a typical white woman." Asselback is so into herself, that she is unable to or won't acknowledge that it has not been that long ago that Blacks were assigned to the back of the bus, separate bathrooms, "No Niggers Allowed," "Strange Fruit," was not a song of edible fruit hanging from the trees, Medgar Evers, Martin Luther King and numerous others assassinated because their skin was black and they dared to speak out, etc., etc. Many black professionals are still stopped by police for little or no reason at all, followed in stores while shopping, etc. She cannot acknowledge that the Rev Wright's lived this and have every right to rage against it and be able to explain it in their own words. If the likes of the lily-white Asselback's are offended, so be it. I think it offends them because they think themselves better than those who were actually hurt and offended.

2. So we shouldn't discuss it now? Maybe we should push to discuss it more.
I agree with you, but we need to push our anger towards a solution.

4. "Discussing" it rhetorically on one's airwaves does NOTHING
I have been in 'race discussions' before. Meaningful round-table talks where people listen to ALL points of view.

They were wonderful for all parties (hell I think my first one was in Junior High since I grew up in the D.C. suburbs). Even at that young age I thought it was wonderful.

7. What tires me
Edited on Mon Mar-24-08 06:27 PM by They Live 1988
I don't give a damn about color. I am tired of race being an "issue" when there are actual issues that the candidates and the press are IGNORING.

How many dozens of American soldiers and how many hundreds of Iraqis and Afghanis have died since Pastrogate hit the 24 hour news cycle. It makes me sick. Sometimes I feel like turning on American Idol or playing some Guitar Hero like the majority of voters and just tune out the real issues and let the world go to hell without protesting.

I can understand the aggravation but if the response to the speech is that then it is ... well... kinda optimistic.

and they are playing with fire. I don't listen to the radio, but I read what is being said on the talk 'news' shows. I admit it has outraged me, but not in the intended way. I'm going to go do a Howard Beale..
