hot spring break pic....
I've just returned from a spring break trip to the southern California desert. I took this pic Friday on rt. 395 on the east side of the Sierras. I wonder if the monkey king has heard yet?

:) I am in Bakersfield myself. I remember a Chevron station in Inyokern which is what your pic reminds me of.

7. Have you ever taken the drive up Fish Slough Road?
IIRC it starts around Bishop and ends up by Mono lake...runs along the desert between the White Mountains and Mammoth...lots of petroglyphs, hot springs, etc. along that route, and impressive contrast between desert floor and high-Sierra.

17. is that the road to Bentonville, just south of Mono Lake...?
Goes by Mono Craters? That is one of my favorite loops. Spectacular scenery and great camping.

21. I think so...and if you follow it down to its terminous outside of Bishop...
Edited on Sun Mar-23-08 07:50 PM by adsosletter
it passes some great outcroppings of black (volcanic?) stone which contain beautiful petroglyphs...it also goes through an area (Red Rock Canyon?) which is a VERY narrow stretch between orange/red canyon walls which tower over your vehicle on either side.

We used to go down and camp at Sherwin Creek, just outside of Mammoth...good fishing (Fish and Game keeps it stocked from the hatchery down there) and easy access to either high Eastern Sierra or low desert...and the hot springs and creeks down towards the valley (Cowboy Tank, etc.)

I have some pictures somewhere of my family and I hiking around at Mono Craters...good times...haven't been for probably 20 years...

25. There will be no such thing.
We'll buy the gas. We'll also buy less of everything else. They knew the jig was up when they rammed through the bankrupcy bill. All that's left is to convince Joe Schmoe that the emptiness in his wallet is some third world country's fault.

16. $3.75 for mid grade gasoline
on the central coast of California.

When I first bought my 99 Subaru it cost $14 to fill up in 1999
I just filled up this Friday it cost me $60 or a little over 4 times
as much.
