Hopefully, he will ride out the storm. But numerous extramaritals have come to light and it may be a matter of time before it becomes apparent that laws ( i.e. campaign finance, using public moneys, improperly intervening to get people state jobs, etc. etc. ) were broken in connection to same.

In that event, who succeeds the NY Gov. when there is no Lt. Gov.? Please tell me it's not the senate majority leader.

On a broader level, anyone care to speculate why the NY Party is such a complete moral and ethical shambles?

1. It is the Senate Majority Leader Bruno, which is horrible. But he's under investigation
and from what I hear, has had several girlfriends as well. What a mess.

9. Is it possible for Paterson to appoint a Lt. Gov. while there's still time?
A la Nixon appointing Ford when Agnew resigned?

11. I'd have voted for Larry Bud Melman, or maybe Grindergirl...
Actually, I kind of like the second one...who's going to argue with a fire-eating Grindergirl with a bull whip? Grindergirl could get things done.

6. maybe Schumer should have been the one who ran for Governor
Spitzer should have ran for Senate. with people like Vitter and Craig in there Spitzer wouldn't have felt the need to resign.

19. It's not quite clear what's happening.
He's acknowledged several affairs while he was having marital problems. Several of the women appear to be state employees. He may have helped them get jobs, etc. Some of the trysts may have taken place on the taxpayer dime at motels, etc. or with campaign funds... also a no-no.

The worry is that more will come out, i.e. more than he's copped to. He was a fairly obscure state senator and probably never imagined he'd come under this kind of scrutiny.

RW media here smells blood and is going after him bigtime.
