WH: AMERICANS' SAY ON WAR ENDED IN '04
White House Press Secretary Perino: Americans' say in Iraq war ended in 2004
RAW STORY
Published: Thursday March 20, 2008

At a White House press briefing today, Press Secretary Dana Perino effectively tells veteran correspondent Helen Thomas that the American people's say in the Iraq occupation ended after the 2004 election.

"The American people are being asked to die and pay for this," probes Thomas. "And you're saying they have no say in this war?"

"No," Perino responds, "I didn't say that, Helen. But, Helen, this president was elected--"

Thomas interrupts: "But it amounts to it. You're saying we have no input at all."

"You had input," Perino says. "The American people have input every four years and that's the way our system is set up."

Or Wednesday, I forget.

But there was a former serviceman that is now part of votevets.org that said that Americans can still "vote" on this war by REFUSING TO SIGN UP!

What sort of young person today would put his life and limb on the line for something so stupid and unpopular?

"What? You're joining the Army? You friggin' MORON! Don't you know how stupid that is!"

I think recruits are going to consist mostly of people at the end of their societal rope - addicts, criminals, desperate people with few options left in life.

10. There'll always be that percentage of macho authoritarianism = violence is COOL
Stemming from xenophobia, ignorance, and corporate conditioning.

17. You also have the gaming & entertainment industry that makes it look real cool to fight and hey you
get a new life by respawning your fighter! The military is now recruiting with about a 40% rate of moral waivers! That was 0% when I retired last century.

11. Ever notice how rightists love to relegate legit concern/criticism to "whining/bitching/moaning?"
Very revealing, that tactic.

14. Every time I think the * Administration cannot find a more brain dead
moron to spew their lies...they find one worse than the last. She makes Tony Snow and Scott McClellan look like geniuses.

The American people have a say every four years...keep replaying that quote along with McCain's promise of occupying Iraq for the next century, followed by his hug and kiss of Bush and I think the Dems can wrap this up. We are at four years again Dana and your time has come to an end.
