David Schuster said the person responsible for one of the breaches....

Has a connection - a tenuous one - to the Clinton administration. Some woman named Hardy who was an ambassador under Prez Clinton....

That's what Keith Olbermann just reported.

2. Maura Harty. She will be debriefed tomorrow. She was also ambassador to PARAGUAY.
Edited on Thu Mar-20-08 10:34 PM by seafan
Edit to correct spelling of name, Maura Harty.

U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Consular Affairs Maura Harty addresses the media in New Delhi on October 10, 2007. Ms. Harty said the U.S. approach is to be vigilant in securing its borders, while at the same time maintaining its traditional welcome for international travelers. Seated next to Ms. Harty is U.S. Embassy Consul General Peter G. Kaestner.

24. I've been searched repeatedly going back and forth to Canada the past 4 years...
Edited on Fri Mar-21-08 07:18 AM by MookieWilson
and I've been to Europe and Asia.

In fact, I've been searched so much going in and out of Canada that the folks on the US side last time looked at my record and let me go. "We don't need to search you."

So what?

I think this is an important issue and would like to see laws protecting this privacy result, but I really don't give a damn if my passport information is public.

22. Where and when you have traveled. If somebody hacked into the record
its possible they could make changes. Say add trips to Iran that weren't "reported" since they weren't true. That kind of thing. You know how it goes, it doesn't matter if it is true or not, Faux News will get it and beat it into the ground.

31. It doesn't matter what is in it what matters is it is an illegal search
No warrants issued and even the Bush* Cabal can not say they were spying on a foreign terrorist. It is illegal activity by this Administration and someone needs to be held accountable...but no one will be because Democrats apparently don't believe in accountability..

And they actually just spent $3 million giving bonuses to over 200 foreign service officers, including Mary Ryan and Mora Hardy and the other people responsible for the policies that gave us the terrorists in this country on legal visas. So not only did no heads roll, but they actually rewarded people like Tom Furie, the person who was Consul General at Riyadh when 14 of the terrorists received their visas, and Mary Ryan and others, and they gave them bonuses of $10,000 to $15,000 each, for a total cost of $3 million.

We are also obviously working to secure the office and to get to it as quickly as possible. But, yes, I've been in touch with both the director and the deputy director. And Mora Hardy from Consular Affairs has been very actively engaged and working on this problem.

pretty much. I think now he wants to pin everything on her even more than he wants to pin things on Bush -- and therein lies a real problem with KO.

And lots of people here are oh so eager to believe it. Of course it's Clinton! She knows what a big story it was when it happened to her hubby in 1992 and how it helped him, so she now wants to help Obama get elected!

Maura Harty was chosen for her current position as the Executive Secretary of the Department of State by Secretary of State Colin L. Powell in May 2001.

http://www.state.gov/secretary/former/powell/remarks/2002/14852.htm

Ambassador Harty entered the Foreign Service in 1981 after receiving a bachelor’s degree from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. Following an initial assignment to the American Embassy in Mexico City, Ambassador Harty returned to Washington and immediately participated in the United States’ rescue mission to Grenada. Ambassador Harty and another State Department officer flew in with international military forces to lead the search for endangered American students and retirees. She later served as a Watch Officer in the State Department’s Operations Center and was promoted to Senior Watch Officer during that assignment. In 1987-1988, Harty was a Special Assistant to then Secretary of State George P. Shultz.

Harty returned overseas in 1988 by volunteering for service at the American Embassy in Bogota, Colombia at the time judged to be among the most dangerous assignments available. As chief of the visa section, she pioneered new ways to identify drug traffickers and to establish legal means to impede their travel, as well as the travel of family members who benefited from the proceeds of narcotics trafficking. Ambassador Harty subsequently served as Consul at the American Embassy in Madrid. During that time she was also drafted to assist in the opening of the American Embassy in Vilnius, Lithuania.
---------
Put simply, she was well placed to do Bushco's dirty tricks.
