Why is the corporate media covering the Anti-war protests? Now?
Edited on Wed Mar-19-08 03:19 PM by Ronnie Roach
They ignored the Winter Soldier testimonies last week, Ok, so they do not want nobody to hear the truth from Humans who actually has been there. For the last 5 years, they ignored every week end demonstration against the war. Now, on the anniversary of the war, ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and even Fox news are covering it. You got to ask yourself, wouldn't this encourage others to protest? God, Bush would love an excuse to enact marterial law. Just Curious.

1. They are not anti-war protests
Edited on Wed Mar-19-08 03:28 PM by Robbien
They are peace marches.

What the heck is a protest against anti-war anyway?

edit:
The anti-war terminology is what the right wing has foisted upon peace marches. There is a thread at freeperville today which is all up in arms because an article called it a peace march. Freepers were upset saying "don't allow the media to label it a peach march, write them".

I am a peace marcher. There is no war to protest. Just an illegal occupation.

4. Not quite all.
There's still Iran, and 10 months to go.

11. I was thinking in terms of what he could do for the M$M.
Of course, a war in Iran would fill a lot of air time, and bump up those ad dollars. :(

7. Coincides with Obama's speech
and Hillary' iraq statement. The Great Political Game. In that game this is allowed because the GOP has to have "success" and pulldown in troops completely defeat the "foolish peacenik" Dems. Although it is isn't going exactly splendidly for the GOp they MUST hang onto that like bulldogs and drain whatever illusory advantage they can out of it. It is one of THE political musts this year and in itself is criminally despicable in exploiting our failed foreign policy dressed up as a bold plus for the GOP. Distracting from the huge panic stricken economic climate where the GOP is bailing out the golden lifeboats for the banks is bigger than any need to downplay peace activists.

A real dilemma would have been having millions of people in the streets. That is something they would like to ignore although even that might be preferable to bread riots.

8. Are they covering this?
I haven't heard anything in Arizona. I'll check later.

If they are, maybe it's tied into the elections and they're hedging their bets.

Thanks!

9. The talking heads on my local CBS discussed the media's complicity in not reporting
Edited on Wed Mar-19-08 03:56 PM by Breeze54
about the occupation unless it's to report the total American soldiers that have been killed but never a word about the Iraqi's and they were saying that they are to blame. That all of the media is to blame for not reporting the whole story instead of the PR from the Administration. I was astounded but of course, this was at 6 AM today and I'm sure not many people were listening. I like this newscast (this time slot) because these three seem to be quite liberal. Of course, I'm sure I won't be hearing that on the noon news or the evening news but it did make me feel a little better to hear that at least three do acknowledge that their whole industry is guilty.
