That sooner rather than later, we come to the realization that those in power have played us against each other for decades. In the meantime, they've looted this country on our backs, while we keep up our petty squabbling.
Working/middle-class whites have nothing to fear from working/middle-class blacks. "The Man" is playing all of us.
And those immigrant Latino workers everyone's so paranoid about? Rich pigs are exploiting them. They're not "taking" jobs from anyone. If the rich pigs had to pay more for the labor, they wouldn't be paying anyone.
And what's worse, sexism or racism? Neither, and who the f**k cares anyway - they both suck!
And about those freaked out that a same-sex marriage somehow threatens their male-female marriage.....Get real! And if you voted for one of those discriminatory amendments to your state constitution - SHAME ON YOU!
Will we get there? I don't know. I certainly hope so, because we have to UNITE, people!!! They may have the power and the money, but we've got the numbers: There are a hell of lot more of us than them.
As the great Howard Zinn said: To omit or to minimize these voices of resistance is to create the idea that power only rests with those who have the guns, who possess the wealth, who own the newspapers and the television stations. I want to point out that people who seem to have no power, whether working people, people of color, or women -- once they organize and protest and create movements -- have a voice no government can suppress.
