24/7 News has become overkill.
I wish other programming was available during the day, with news in the a.m., ended at 9:00, middle of the day report at noon and then the evening report starting at 5:00. Those news readers and faux journalists who attempt to analyze and pick apart every word and nuance in a sentence have brought the media to its knees.

Personally I just want to know what the news is locally, nationally and internationally. I don't need a news reader's opinion or his/her boss's opinion. I can interpret the news for myself. Of course, getting the news straight and not distorted is a monumental task in and of itself. I hate to keep saying back in the old days...but, you know we were all informed back then also. No internet or other tech phenoms. We waited for our favorite newscasters/journalists to come on and give us the news. We, as thinkers and analyzers who also read papers, figured it out for ourselves.

These political shows on cable actually do more of a disservice to the public along with Talk Radio and their so-called informed pundits. I'm not sure what the other programming would be but I just don't see that we are better informed with 24/7 news shows. In fact, I think we are more confused, the constant looping over and over of car chases, celebrity sightings and gossip. Give me Cronkite, Murrow (well, there is Keith my salvation) or John Cameron Swayze (remember him?) There appears to be a continual dumbing-down instead of lifting up. Ah, maybe it's just me but I hope the FCC becomes a more valued part of the next administration. It's all so tiring.

1. You don't get 24/7 of news, You get maybe 10 minutes of news and 23 hours of opinion.

2. If we could get many many stories a day as opposed to four of them for 24 hours.
It might be worth having dedicated channels.
