American Axle Strike-Day 21---Please Read This...I Beg of You
What he said then...

http://www.detnews.com/specialreports/2000/michiganians/dauch/dauch.htm

“Many of America’s corporate titans have given up on manufacturing, allowing Silicon Valley and Juarez, Mexico, to replace the manufacturing hubs of Detroit, Toledo and Buffalo,” he says. “I was determined not to let it happen here. Detroit doesn’t need more warehouses. We need value-added manufacturing that generates jobs and decent wages.”

What he means/is doing now...

http://www.mlive.com/business/index.ssf/2008/02/strike_at_american_axle_not_a.html

"All of the changes we have proposed have been accepted by the UAW in agreements with our competitors in the United States," Dauch said. "I have no idea why AAM is being singled out for a different set of economic conditions."

The difference, experts say, is most of those agreements between the UAW and suppliers have been reached in bankruptcy court.

and... He has the means to continue production outside of the united states...which is what he is threatening to do if the workers will not break:

AND...

PROFIT SHARING CHECKS WERE HANDED OUT LAST WEEK TO NON UNION EMPLOYESS. WTF???

3. Dauch is trying to do to the UAW what Consolidated did to the Teamsters
Scumbag. It's ok, GM has halted production because of no product, and they will force him to settle sooner than later.

5. It's not going to happen DB...
They are going to close AAM, basically stick it to the workers and move all ops to Mexico. They don't really even need that plant.

8. It has become an utter mess.
The bosses are saying it will last until April but there is some indication that it won't ever end. They will just close the doors and move things to Mexico.

This man is such a damned hypocrite.

4. Continue production outside of the United States?
Edited on Tue Mar-18-08 01:19 PM by KamaAina
That'd make the name "American Axle" rather ironic, wouldn't it?

Hey, maybe with MI having that "do-over" primary, these guys can get some love from a candidate or two?

6. Yes it would. And it would make Mr. Dauch look like a hypocrite...which
he already done. After promising he would always take care of his (read: non GM transfers) people.
