Let me state this again: this was the SITTING, ELECTED treasurer of South Carolina, when he was arrested for a major role related to selling drugs. Not just poseesion - intent to sell.
There are folks rotting in jail for simple possession of much less potent stuff than cocaine - and this guy gets 10 months?
The little news blip says its because of his sharing insight into the "drug scene". Okay - then lets repeat this: the then sitting, elected, GOP State Treasurer of South Carolina claims to have been using cocaine for nearly 20 years and is implied to have been deeply entwined enough in the drug scene to have his sentence reduced to a mere 10 months - and the judge indicates that the sentence may be reduced even more!
Good things those automatic sentencing rules for drugs are so uniformly applied :sarcasm:
