Here's a useless piece of garbage: Dad accused of forcing girl to kill pet cat
MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) -- A man was jailed Thursday on charges that he forced his 7-year-old daughter to kill the family cat by holding a knife in her hand and making her stab the pet.

Danield J. Collins, 39, told his children during a visit to his home Sunday that he wanted them to "learn how to kill" and gave his 11-year-old son a knife to do it, according to an affidavit filed in the case.

The boy tried to save the cat by hiding it under a sofa bed and putting ketchup on a knife when Collins went to the bathroom. But when the father realized that the cat was not dead, he forced his daughter to hold the knife and then held her hand tightly as he drove the knife into the animal, Muncie police Detective Jami Brown said.

The children told family members about the incident Monday, the day after the alleged killing, according to the affidavit. The children told police that their father was drunk when they arrived at his home and that he's a different person when he's sober, it said.

he's a worthless f*ck whether he was drunk or not

1. Those kids need to be taken away from that
psychopath. That is beyond sick. And the kids saying he's a "different person when he's sober" is the language of the abused and oppressed.

3. I hadn't thought of that, but it's true
How often have you heard people say, "He's not abusive unless he's been drinking."

2. Shit like this is why I support the death penalty
And yes, I could personally throw the switch.

4. but he didn't do anything for which he could get the death penalty...
so why would this case be a reason to be in favor of it...?

7. In his own words people need to learn how to kill
so I suggest someone learn on him.

Sorry but I'm vehemently opposed to animal cruelty or torture.

The applicability of the death penalty to various crimes could be debated forever. Torturing of innocent animals seems appropriate for capital punishment to me.

From the little I know of this case I can see little vslue to society in keeping this miserable piece of shit alive.

Perhaps you think my opinion is irrational. That's your opinion and you are entitled to it. I'm not an animal rights nut and I've been a hunter for over half a century. But I think animal cruelty is symptomatic of a far more serious affliction.

15. Animal cruelty? What about what he did to those children?
Making them kill their pet? What kind of lasting damage will that little girl suffer? The children need to be taken out of that house immediately and I don't care what punishment the authorities visit on the "father".

20. I've Known a Few Alcoholics.
My dad was one, in fact. Drunk or sober he'd never have done anything like this to us.

Psychopathism is a difference disease altogether.

24. Agreed.
You can't blame this on the booze.

None of my alcoholic relatives or friends would ever even think of a horror like this. I've known a few who got violent on occasion but most of them would prefer to work out their violence on a sick freak like this guy.

Alcohol exacerbates your worst personality flaws, but it doesn't make you a sociopath if you aren't one to begin with.

22. that's amazingly hypocritical of you.
even though he didn't do anything that legally warrants the death penalty- you wish it upon him for killing an animal. i.e.- you want to treat him like the animal he killed, even though you feel that he was wrong to treat it that way. doesn't that make you just as wrong?

That fucker better do a long, long time in jail. Killing a helpless animal in such an inhumane way and involving young kids in it? I feel ill.

6. Sick
Just because John Daly is a different person when he's drunk doesn't excuse bad behavior. Throw this guy's ass in jail and take the kids away to get counseling and a new home.

9. WTF?
And he's allowed visitations with his children WHY???

They live with their grandparents, and there's no mention of their mother.
Also, the cat was 8 months old! Just a baby, really.
These poor, poor kids are going to be so screwed up...

this sick monster got made that way somehow. What a tragedy. He was obviously fucked up to the point of losing all claim to being human. But the evil he committed was far less than those who did this:

16. Of all the irrelevant crap.
What an utterly superior and snide attempt to make us feel petty and ashamed of our emotions since we aren't having the right feelings in the right place for the right victims.

I'm thrilled to discover that your empathy is so much finer and better than mine.

Not in regard to me, however, I notice.

18. There is a reason to learn when and how to kill cleanly. This does not do it.
I take solace in the thought that he'll soon be in general population and the cat's position.

25. If I witnessed this sick fuck doing this, I'd take my baseball bat to him
and believe me, he'd be feeling the big hurt. I don't give a flying fuck why he did it. When it comes to kids and/or innocent animals, all bets are off with me. This shit brings out a nasty, mean streak in me.

27. The Romans had it right. "In vino veritas."
In wine is truth. The way this guy is when he's drunk and uninhibited, is a better indication of his true nature than when he's sober and checking his behaviour.
