Good Friday related email a friend received from
her workplace....

I have removed any identifying markers....FYI my friend is NOT a Christian and she finds this email offensive.

To team :

With Good Friday just a week away, I am pleased to announce that the shareholders have decided to recognize Good Friday as a paid holiday, as a thanks to both you, and the good Lord who has blessed us in so many ways.

In some instances the divisional operations will remain open for business due to field operations or customer requirements. In those cases, your manager will be communicating with you on how he intends to staff the division as a result of those requirements.

I pray each of you will enjoy the extra time with family and friends on the Holiday established for this terrific Christian nation we call America!

God Bless,

1. She should find this offensive.
Because it is.

2. She is right to be offended by the characterization of America
as a "Christian Nation". The good wishes should just be accepted.

"Let us all celebrate that joyous rememberance of the torture, mortification and murder of Our Lord And Saviour Jesus H. Christ while we enjoy the extra time with family and friends."

"This is also a gentle reminder to our Jewish and Muslim colleagues in Field Operations and Customer Service, that at this Holiday established for this terrific Christian nation we call America, their attendance is encouraged in order to ensure business continuity and profit-making opportunities, while we Christians enjoy extra paid time off."

5. While there *might* be a token Jew in the business
I seriously doubt there are any Muslims, at least if there are any, they are not out about it. Oooh no...this company is very Republican. So Republican that my friend was afraid of voicing her dislike of Bush because she thought they'd fire her.

6. "this terrific Christian nation" is what pisses me off.
We are a nation that welcomes all, not just Christians.

:grr:

7. We should only take the atheist holidays off. That will show them.

8. Enjoy Good Friday?
Good Friday is one of the most solemn holy days in the christian calendar. Orthodox and RCs fast and abstain. There is no "enjoy" on Good Friday. And that last sentence is just plain wrong.
