First secret session since 1983-
Get ready to bend over people, we're gonna get screwed. Dennis objected, then removed his objection, Doggett of Tx is objecting right now.

2. It's on the span right now.
The minority whip, and the majority leader, with some others will hold secret session tonight, regarding what else? FISA.

This is bad in so many ways.

3. Thank You
Dennis Kucinich. He is opposed to secret sessions and has told the House that his experience with Secret Meetings in the past have been used to advance false information which at least one individual (unnamed) sitting in the chamber now has done that.

5. Big whoop..
A 'secret' or 'executive' session of Congress is so that CLASSIFIED information can be discussed, such as 'so called' specific terror attacks that have been averted or discussing the exact nature of secret wiretapping. Committees that ddeal with classified information hold secret sessions all the time (Defense, Intelligence). Its just rare for the whole congress to do so. The actual process of 'sweeping' the chambers for listening devices and such is fairly complicated and time consuming. I would be surprised if they could really accomplish it as quick as the Republican think--thus a publicity stunt.

10. This is not a regular executive session.
They've had like 5 or 6 of these. Ever. No media allowed, no public and the members are allowed to discuss nothing of the information gathered. The pugs called for the session, publicity stunt, sure, but what is going to be said? If the majority leaders come back with a different opinion on immunity, are we supposed to then just assume that it's for our own good? Not me.

Stunt or not, I'm bothered.

7. I'll be god damned! Do you see what they are doing?
They are going to have a secrete session in which secrete information WILL NOT be disclosed. The Republicans will reference stuff they say they have seen, but they will not present secrete information. Secrete session in the People's House. How in hell does this happen.

Its only happened 3 times in our history, but there are men standing on the House floor right this minute who have been in all 3 of the sessions.

33. I have a question
When in a "secret session", if information is discussed that is *not* classified, does it become by default classified and not subject to public debate? In other words, could such a session be used to prevent public debate on non-classified material?

49. I don't know if it becomes classified but the
House members can not repeat anything that was said in the secret session so it might as well be classified. BTW, that was what most of the objection by a number of Dem's was about, they didn't want to be in a position to not be able to discuss FISA openly when it comes to the floor tomorrow.

43. Then Mr. Blount is directly questioning the authority
of the Intelligence Committee. If the Intelligence Committee has access to this "information" but does not deem it necessary to disseminate it to the entire House, Mr. Blount is directly challenging their competence. It sounds to me as if he is trying to circumvent the Democratic leadership of that committee. The response should be a simple "No, shut up and sit down", but somehow it isn't. I suspect the reason for that is related to Mr. Hoyer's deep and profound respect for Mr. Blount, which Steny keeps reminding everyone about.
