Sen.Metzenbaum dies; the next day, Paulson says, 'Uh, maybe deregulation was wrong, after all'
I don't know if it's good or bad that the late senator, who fought as much as he could to prevent Reagan and Bush Sr.'s deregulation of everything, lived to see the nation's economy destroyed partly because of deregulation.

1. Reagan lived to see a Dem president declare "The era of big government is over."
I doubt many longtime Dem senators who fought those battles appreciated that public acceptance of Reagan's governing philosophy in front of the largest audience of the American people.

Metzenbaum was a pretty good guy. One of my cousins worked for him in the 80s.

3. At least they are beginning to see how dangerous deregulation can be.
But most importantly the people of the USA see it too.
