Poll question: MSM coverage of "families struggling to buy food and fuel"?
About three hours ago, I posted a poll about "struggling to buy food and fuel".

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x3002733

Here´s the follow-up question:

How do you rate the MSM coverage of this issue, "the struggle to buy food and fuel"?

Thanks :-)

4. I have yet to see anything on the struggle that most people

who used to be thought of as 'comfortable' are having. But I do see an awful lot of commercials and other pieces that assume everyone has investments and a broker and money enough to buy stocks...one even going so far as to say 'those with at least half a million dollars to invest will receive a coupon for a session with a regional vice-president'.

Like those who are stuck watching tv would have $500k to invest...or that those who do have that much would be stupid enough right now to invest it in American stocks.

5. They take their marching orders from the top
and there is no 'liberal media'. I personally have to laugh at the fact that 'core' inflation does not include the rising costs of food and fuel. That should tell us that it is going to be ignored by the propaganda machine pushing the Republican party line.

6. If they do
it is so garbled with worthless numbers and dehumanized you can barely make out what they are trying to say.

9. It would be easier to say, for example,
65% of Americans are struggling to pay for food and fuel.

11. Knowledge creates thoughts,
thoughts create action, action creates change and change is not what the elites want. Its hard to have an upward society when everything is being dumbed down.

7. I started a thread last week asking why
we never see the poor and their problems on M$M.
Nice poll.

10. What were the replies?
Is there really a good reason for the lack of MSM attention?

8. They will skirt around the issue by reporting rising gas and grocery

prices, but RARELY do any reporting on how families who were barely making it are now going hungry or are without heat. It's shameful. Food pantries can't keep up with the demand.

12. The M$M talks about gas prices all the time, almost daily
and CBS just did a story about rising wheat prices yesterday or the day before.

They do bring it up when people who normally don't have to struggle start feeling the bite.

15. I've seen it covered somewhat
A few minutes ago, MSNBC interviewed a man at a gas pump in California who had lost his job and was struggling to pay for his mortgage and for gas. The man, however, was young and looked like he was not about to go homeless. I think the MSM isn't covering truly hard-hit people and usually tries to end the story on a note of hope. In my opinion, they aren't ignorning the problem but they're not delving too deeply into the issue, either.
