Something stinks about Howards vs. Reichle.

"Secret Service agents are accusing each other of falsifying documents and testimonies in a criminal probe involving a Golden environmental consultant and Dick Cheney.

Accusations stem from a 15-second encounter in Beaver Creek in which Steven Howards approached the vice president to call his Iraq policy "disgusting."

Add to the intrigue Denver lawyer David Lane accusing Cheney and U.S. Magistrate Judge Craig Shaffer of "burying the truth" and "stonewalling and covering up lies."

And you're probably catching the stench.

This week's drama in U.S. District Court came more than 18 months after the Eagle County DA dropped a harassment charge against Howards after his June 2006 comment to the veep — who is mocked in mountain resorts for skiing in his jeans.

Howards was handcuffed in front of his young son. He since has sued five Secret Service agents, claiming civil rights violations and a conspiracy to retaliate for his dissent."
