Carlyle saz,, "We can't crash because we're backed up by the US government"

Carlyle Group and its funds are not liable for repurchase agreements that Carlyle Capital used to buy residential mortgage-backed securities, Hong Kong-based spokeswoman Dorothy Lee said in an e-mail today. ``The Carlyle Group's only material financial exposure to CCC is through a $150 million unsecured subordinated revolving credit agreement with CCC,'' she said.

``At this point we are exploring all options'' for Carlyle Capital, Emma Thorpe, a spokeswoman for Carlyle Group in London, said in a telephone interview. She declined to specify the options being considered.

Carlyle's fund has said its so-called agency debt has an ``implied guarantee'' from the U.S. government.

1. pigs get fed, hogs get slaughtered.
Read this story; for every dollar of equity they borrowed $32, and the investors who got in at $19 a share now find that share worth a quarter.

Someone explain the "implied Government guarantee" to the rest of us.

6. carlyle group=Clinton's

The Carlysle Group is also tied to the Clintons.

* William Kennard, Chairman of the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) under President Bill Clinton, Carlyle's Managing Director in the Telecommunications & Media Group from 2001 to the present.

* Arthur Levitt, Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) under President Bill Clinton, Carlyle Senior Advisor from 2001 to the present.

And to Hillary's financial supporters.

Draw your own conclusions. The Carlyle Group are listed among Hillary’s supporters. David Marchick is the name of the person associated with the contribution to her campaign. Less than a year ago the Carlyle Group named David Marchick Global head of Regulatory Affairs for Carlyle saying that his new position will provide government affairs, regulatory and strategic advice.

Mr. Marchick worked on Bill Clinton’s 1992 campaign and served in four departments – the White House, USTR and Departments of State and Commerce – over seven years in the Clinton Administration. Among other positions, he served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State and while at the White House, helped coordinate the Administration’s efforts to secure passage of NAFTA and the creation of the World Trade Organization.

Yes, Hillary Clinton is getting continued financial support from the man who co-ordinated the Clinton administration's successful efforts to pass NAFTA.

8. The Clinton Family is not tied to the Carlyle Group in the same manner as the Bush Family.

13. Poppy's probably not worried. It's a good bet his take's in a numbered Swiss bank account.
Ollie North handled one big account:

The secret funding of arms, which was sold to "moderate Iranians," was orchestrated primarily by North. Then the profits from the sales were used to send more weapons to the Contras in Central America. North controlled the secret and illegal treasury which financed "the Enterprise." This consisted of CIA agents turned arms merchants, dummy CIA corporations, and clandestine Swiss bank accounts. The Enterprise took in $48 million in cash. Some was pocketed by arms dealer Albert Hakim and by General Richard Secord. Some of the money was funneled into the Middle East to pay for North's failures in attempting to liberate the American hostages in Beirut.
