IL 14 - Stupid, Stupid Cow Nazi...
Some here might be following the Congresional Race in Illinois 14...Gym Teach Denny's old seat. It features Bill Foster, a dynamic Progressive running against Jim Oberwies...the thrice-failed candidate who appears to have problems running a campaign for what most considered a safe red Congressional Seat. To Foster's credit, he's tapped into the large and untapped city folks and moderate who have put Foster ahead of Oberweis in the polls...with the Election just ONE WEEK AWAY.

And now it appears Oberweis has not only broken laws, but might just break the RNCC piggy bank as well...

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/2/29/185329/377/196/465592

Seems that Oberweis has given his own campaign over $640,000, thus triggering the "Millionaires' Amendment". Only the thing is, he forgot to tell anyone, including his opponent, that he had in fact triggered the Millionaires' Amendment (it would have increased the limits on fundraising from individuals for his opponent, Bill Foster).

According to the FEC, you can't do that.

So the DCCC has filed an FEC complaint against our man Oberweis. And it is likely he will have to pay a hefty fine.

On top of this, he has also had to pull his ads from local TV, for failing to comply with disclaimer rules.

Gee, you'd think he'd be better at this by now.

So the NRCC, perhaps recognizing Oberweis' incompetence, and certainly endowed with the ability to read polls, has apparently swooped in to save the day with a TV ad buy totaling nearly $1 million.

This race is very winnable, folks...and it'd be a real sweet victory to snatch Gym Teach Denny's seat...and also use it to win several more Illinois districts in the process.

2. The Delicious Irony...
Two years ago Hastert set up a "war room" that was supposed to force Democrats to spend big money to defend Chicago House seats...and was lucky to squeak by with Roscum. Here's hoping we can bleed their pocketbooks a bit...and hopefully put the Cow Nazi to pasture once and for all.

:toast:

Cheers...

3. I'm pretty sure that oberweiss is completely lying in his newest ad...
Edited on Fri Feb-29-08 09:09 PM by QuestionAll
when talking about tax increases that foster supposedly supports, the ad says that the tax increases would cost the average tax payer $3600(my ballpark figure)- and while the figures themselves probably come from the rnc's interpretation of the democratic party platform, the $3600 figure probably represents the average tax increase...BUT- the "average tax increase" is NOT THE SAME as what the increase would be for the "average tax payer". it's semantics- but words should count.

btw- i'll be canvassing for bill next week, and i've convinced a lot of people to make it out to vote for him. people WANT change. BIG TIME change.

4. It's Boilerplate GOOP Lying
The game here is that the "booosh tax cuts" or the giveaway to the rich is set to expire in 2010 and the rates then will go back to how they were in 2001. The GOOP uses this difference as a "tax hike"...usually in their pitch to keep the "cuts" permanent. Demcorats have already addressed this issue of keeping the cuts permanent for those earning $150k or $100k or less...thus NO "tax hike"...except for Oberweis and his rich fatass fatcats!

Thanks to booshie's destructive defecits that have ruined the economy, property taxes are soaring to make up the shortfall from falling property values and federal funding.

I'm also going to be doing some canvassing this week...and some phone banking. I used to live in Elgin and DeKalb...how sweet it would be to see this district turn Blue and with a very solid candidate.

Thanks for posting!

Cheer...

6. That's Bucky's Dome
I was in Carbondale circa 1974...what a wild time that was (from what I can remember). I was there during all the streaking and managed to earn a whole 9 credit hours for my year there.

I think I was the only Democrat in Elgin in the 80's...I used to interview John Grotberg and then Gym Teach Denny when he took over the seat. I've had a long-running contempt for that bastard and glad he's gone. It's great to see this race so competitive.

Cheers...

7. Bucky Fuller's Dome on the Range!
I wish more people appreciated what Fuller was trying to do. We'd probably not have our national mortgage disaster if we'd done things his way.
