This week there are reports that a phony issue organization was created with the specific purpose of attacking at least 15 freshman Democratic members of Congress. According to these news stories, this group has already spent millions of dollars running despicable television ads that accuse these members of being weak on national security issues. Because these members of Congress refused to cave in to the Bush administration and immediately pass a flawed extension of the so-called "Protect America Act" – legislation that would weaken privacy protections for American citizens and provide retroactive immunity to telecom companies - they are now under attack and urgently need our help.
