6. The moron probably thought he could save money on gas
First let me say we are on our third prius. We get great mileage but we paid a lot more for these cars then we would have paid for a similar sized Toyota that would have gotten good mileage as well. We paid the extra money to invest in the new technology - I wish it would have been for an American company but they are only interested in the bottom line.

So while you do save money on gas it would take a long time to make up the difference in the price of the car.
