I just heard Larry King mention this in his interview with Mrs. Obama. I say go for it, John. That will tie you even more to the failed Bush policies in Iraq and elsewhere in the world. She was one of the developers of that policy.

1. I don't see it. She doesn't shore up any of his perceived weaknesses.
And in fact might enhance them to some degree.

I'd love to see her on the ticket though.

5. Well, I don't like calling people (no matter their political persuasion) a "whore"
But I think you mistook my meaning. I don't want her on the ticket because I like her, I want her on the ticket because it would hurt their electoral chances.

4. I seriously doubt it's true. What would they point to as her
accomplishments?
-ignored terrorist threat before 9/11
-failed to successfully negotiate with Palestinians, Iraqis, etc.

She is the poster diplomat for a failed administration and it's worthless foreign policy.

Too many people have learned to hate his guts. Even Wall Street doesn't want him.

I'm shocked this admin didn't tap her to run from the Presidency...
I thought for sure Cheney would step down last year to put in the one person they thought could give Hillary a run for her money AND ensure that their insane policies continue for another 4 years. I have no idea why Cheney is still the VP. It makes no sense politically.

8. I would take that to be the neocons keeping an eye on McCain
They probably hope he gets elected, and then dies in office so one of "theirs" retakes control of the WH.

They really (REALLY) dont trust McCain.

10. we underestimate mccain to our own peril
he's not stupid....he's going to be a formidable opponent...and anybody that thinks otherwise
is deluding themselves....he's seen by many moderates as a maverick and anti-bush....and he has the rw talk jocks against him to prove it.....he'll appeal to conservative democrats...moderate and liberal repubs....and a lot of independents....if i had to guess...i'd say lieberman is on his short list....texas senator kay bailey hutchison would also strengthen his ticket....i'm not sure who else he's considering...but it won't be an outright bushie

I'm willing to bet McCain will only pick Condi if Obama wins the Democratic nomination, or if Obama decides to run as Hillary's VP.

19. Perhaps, but I find that scenario unlikely. McCain is going to want to
shore up his support among the disaffected conservatives, and I do not think "Condi" would help him all that much with that rancid slice of his base. More likely Huckabee, or some other gibbering nut along those lines.

Edited on Mon Feb-11-08 10:11 PM by housewolf
On the face of it, it's a fairly interesting idea. Just think how the pundit's heads would explode if the scenario was McMcain/Rice vs Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton! They'd have a field day with the racism and sexism of McCain (older white man)/Rice (younger black woman) vs Clinton (older white woman)/Obama (younger black man) or Obama (younger black man)/Clinton (older white woman) ... my head's exploding just imagining how they might play it!

I hope he does that. he will be putting the face of 9/11 incompetence on his ticket, AND the face of Iraq War blunders as well. not to mention he will hurt his base worse, as southern CONSERVATIVE racist republicans will run away from him quicker than his plane went down in Vietnam.
