The annual Pebble Beach golf tournament is in full swing this week and CEOs from across the country have descended on Northern California to test their driving and putting skills against some of the best pros in the sport.
Some of the executives have serious chops.
Richard Kovacevich, chairman of Wells Fargo & Co., boasts a handicap of 11.2. Fellow financier Charles Schwab's is 7.2, Sun Microsystems Chairman Scott McNealy has a 4.6 and Silicon Valley moneyman Frank Quattrone sports a 9.3.
How can you tell how well the country's captains of industry and finance play golf? Look them up online.
If they're serious about competition - and most top executives are - they'll post their scores on a computerized system that calculates the handicap of duffers throughout the land and posts the results online for anyone to see. The United States Golf Association provides the service.Wow. Thank you, David R. Baker, for reporting on this. This is fascinating.
Don't you find this f*cking fascinating? Why it's almost scintillating.
Richard Kovacevich doesn't just run a major bank, he has a handicap of 11.2!
And you can rest assure that he works 1000 times harder, 1000 times longer, and has 1000 times more education than a typical employee.
He must, because he makes over 1000 times more - $72 mil. per year.

Then there's Charles Schwab. He runs some investment outfit.
And his handicap is 7.2! It just gets more fascinating all the time.
Schwab is white and rich, so he's obviously just brimming with genius and virtue, but he must not work as hard or be as smart as Kovacevich, because he only makes $22 mil.

Suck it, Schwab!
And the list of business luminaries goes on and on...
Wow. Pebble Beach is truly fortunate to have these fine men grace it with their presence.
And kudos to Baker for stroking their egos (and the egos of all the corporate suits reading who want to be them) with this piece! God knows, CEOs don't get nearly enough ego-stroking!
The sun is shining and the grass is green and clean at Pebble Beach and all is right with America.
I'm so glad that nothing icky like 1 million pending foreclosures or a dying middle class or a senseless war dampened their little GOLF GAME.link to the rest of Forbes' list of rich f*cks:
