For the LSU/Alabama game Alabama fans threw dog food at us screaming "here's your FEMA rations," chanted "Katrina Trash," throughout the afternoon and had tee shirts with the outline of the state of Louisiana being hit by a big red wave of water and "What Katrina left the Crimson Tide will destroy."

1. I really really really hope that what you say is not true.
Good grief! Do you have a link?

2. Back when I was in college at Mizzou...
at the Kansas/Missouri football game, our fans pelted the KU band with batteries, full beer cans, and even brickbats.

What Tide fans did is disgusting, certainly. I'm just pointing out that college rivalries often get beyond ugly.

We all aren't that way.

7. Repugs are capable of anything, including
this kind of shit. Do you think that any Liberal would stoop to this? Just try to understand its only the shithead repugs in MY state that will do this, not the ENTIRE state. I, as a lifelong Alabamian, condemn this kind of behavior.

13. Racism isn't non-partisan.
Not that it can't cross the aisle occasionally.

12. Yes, their political leanings DID have to do with it.
It is inconceivable that a liberal democrat would mock the misery of others, or try to inflict physical harm on them simply because of a difference in team loyalties. In fact, the very reason that liberals EXIST is to allieviate the misery and protect the welfare of other people, even those who are not like us. We OPPOSE wars. We OPPOSE torture. We OPPOSE poisonous invective. It is conservatives who willingly employ such bad behaviors, and I'd bet you anything that the hooligans who did the awful things described in this thread are, or one day will be, conservative Republicans, to a man.

14. Agreed.
This was a sad demonstration by a sad few that I hope does not reflect upon the place where I live.

17. Bravo Sierra
"It is inconceivable that a liberal democrat would mock the misery of others"

Some of the post on DU with people positively giddy over the misfortune of people who hold a different political opinion contradict this statement.

of others. And yes I have seen it happen here.

19. None of this was a surprise, and nothing political. We in Louisiana know what people in America
think of us, both liberal and conservative, no difference.

I could have done without the dog food.
