I was very psychic a couple of years ago... I said it out loud too, so there are witnesses. I said, the way things are going, I should sell my home now that it has a lot of equity, and change the allocations in my 401k, and put everything into Euros and gold. I even had the conversation with a friend who owns a lot of property, and she warned me that I had not owned the place for two years at that point in time, so I would have to pay a lot in taxes on the sale... I would have still come out waaaaaaaay ahead, extra taxes and all. It would have cost me around $10k... now, I've lost over $100k (on paper). As it stands now, my mortgage and retail value are even, and my 401k is in the toilet.

I kid you not.
