A Question About Recession
I have a question about the recession issue. It seems to me that things six years ago were better than they are now and people were saying we were in a recession. Now there are a number of people who are questioning whether we are actually in a recession. Are people not saying we are in a recession just to give cover to Bush. It seems to me that if the country was in a recession six years ago it is also in one now. So, should more people be saying the country is in a recession?

1. Recession is a term of art
6 months of negative GDP growth is a recession. We may or may not be in a recession. We can only know when the figures are in, and then the economy may have already started growing.

3. The definition seems to change with each administration
and the slowing of GDP growth for 6 months is the narrowest of all.

We know every figure coming out of Washington has been Enronned. 90% of us know we've been in recession for the past 7 years, no matter what a diddled GDP says.

2. see we
were in a recession six years ago because bush started implementing his policies but tried to blame it on clinton cause "it takes time for the economy to catch up to policy" but now were in a real recession and he cannot use the same excuse and it would be great if the recession broke out under the dems, just like it would be great for the dems to be in control while their is an unpopular war going on. Everything that is going wrong right now will not be fixed in the next year and the dems will be saddled with the blame even though they didn't start any of it.

4. We are in a recession, don't fool yourself or listen to the morons who say we aren't
in fact there are whole sections of this country that have been in a recession since 2001. On top of that, like areas of Michigan, have been in a depression for the last 5 years.
