The Medicare "crisis"
With the financial storms on the horizon and what seems to be a lack of vision in Washington with respect to fiscal policy, this seems to be as good a time as any to talk about the future of Medicare. There's no question that the movers and shakers in the GOP would love to see Medicare destroyed. While the social security problems are easily addressed, I'm less convinced that there is an easy fix for Medicare. I've not yet heard a sound plan to save the program that so many seniors depend upon.

I'd appreciate any links to information on Medicare solvency and solutions for what appears to be on the horizon. I'd also love to hear from fellow DUers with regards to possible fixes.

1. The answer is simple...getting it passed is not -- Medicare for All
As a demographic group, Medicare provides healthcare for a group that tends to have medical problems, simply due to age.

The solution is to bring everyone (I mean EVERYONE) into the same risk pool -- the young and the healthy help pay for the old and the sick. When the young and the healthy are not young and healthy anymore, they get the benefit of the youngsters and healthier citizens who are in the pool.

Single-payer Medicare for All -- the ONLY solution, imo.

2. I would agree, and that's how I'd resolve the problem.........
I wish it were politically viable now. Hopefully it will be in ten years.

3. I'm curious as to why
.. no one seems to ever discuss the elephant in the room. The HIGH COST OF MEDICAL CARE. I think it is highway robbery, way over priced, and a racket.

4. go to dennis`s website and read his ideas on healthcare
it is the best plan and he has a well thought out workable plan of funding single payer health care for america. his plan is insuring the people not the insurance industry.
