...by impeaching our next Democratic president, just as a matter of course.

And the other thing is that if we don't impeach Bush, then the GOP will retaliate by impeaching our next Democratic president, just as a matter of course.

6. I'm confident not only of impeachment, but of a vicious ad hominem smear campaign beforehand.
I'm brimming with that kind of confidence.

9. My guess is that they're actually retaliating for the deep seeded insecurities they grew up with
But, yeh, Nixon'll do as well.

10. And when does it end?
When do you stop cowering in the corner over what your opponent might do?

Let them bring on any impeachment proceedings they want. Will it improve the lives of Americans?
Did impeaching Clinton improve anything?

Impeaching Cheney will. It will reassure people that the Constitution exists for more than just a pretty document.

13. Uh, just suppose we try to consider impeachment on its merits
rather try to play politics with it.

A straight forward question: do you believe that Cheney and Bush have committed offenses that warrant impeachment proceedings?

I submit that that is the question to be honestly considered rather than how it will effect politics.

Results look promising. No, really.

22. Did I get something wrong?
If we do impeach the Republicans will retaliate ...should the Democrats win the election.
If we don't impeach, the Republicans will impeach on general principle. That to me could very easily be a statement made by the Democratic Leadership.

16. I'm not an impeach-fan. I'm a jail-fan.
Send the whole treasonous cabal to The Hague and let the ICC sort it out.

I would particularly like for Bush and Cheney to share Milosevic's old cell.

The Democratic leadership will just back down a little more, compromise for the greater good, and stay safe from their attacks that way. People don't like all of the fighting and anger. Best to give in to keep the peace. Once Democrats have a majority in the House, though, then watch out, right wingers!

We need to pay attention to priorities. You can't do anything if you aren't in office. First you have to get into office. Then you can cave in. Meanwhile, best not to rock the boat.

24. Supposedly, one of the reasons for impeaching Bill Clinton was to
even the score for Nixon who was nearly impeached.

These are ruthless people who need to hang on to their voter base of mostly lemmings of the abortion- Armageddon-gun-fear-anti-'librul'-religious righteous, their country club pearl and tie followers, the Reagan lovers, plain life-long conservatives, and all their own operatives.

You can count on them trying to do it again - IF they are in control of the House of Representatives - and EVEN IF they only have another lame excuse. They must constantly feed their voter base and their voter base believes that all Democrats are immoral - so it's invertible that they will try - unless some miracle takes place. Or until we rediscover what it is that we teach our children.
