. . . so, I really think all of the whining about the candidate threads hogging up space is a bit disingenuous. Face it. Most important, serious posts sink like a rock. When I see these complaints from a poster, I always go and look to see what threads they're responding to, and, to see all of their serious, important discussions . . . and, guess what?

So, soon GD will be rid of the candidate threads. I don't believe for a minute, however, that the overall atmosphere in GD will change from the incessant focus on personalities, trivialities, motives, and perceived slights of posters, to the typical exclusion and overshadowing of the 'serious discussions' over policy complainers claim they'll achieve with the move.

But, good luck.

2. Maybe it's because...
Only about 100 people on any given day really want to engage in "dialogue" in the true sense of the word -which is to say to EXCHANGE ideas, not just announce or trumpet preconceived ones.

That's what I have come to realize by looking at GD: Politics for a long time.

doesn't mean I don't read or recommend them. Occasionally, I'll throw out a blurb, but generally I'm just here to learn.

4. But, they are there. They haven't disappeared just because some other thread is active
