Edwards could win a brokered convention: Here's how:

Okay.

Hilliary & Obama supporters are turning into arch enemies. You see it here on this board all the time. Do you think that all of a sudden at the convention - one side is going to just turn and give their votes to the other at the very end.

What if there was another candidate you could vote for?

If the delegates can all of the sudden GIVE their votes to whoever they want (and they can - they aren't binded to go by their original votes direction...

I could see a convention where the Hilliary & or Obama supporters are so split that the losing party throws their support to Edwards. And, he would have more then enough delegates to counter the super delegate factor by that time, if he keeps obtaining 15% or more of the vote. This is the strategy the draft Gore movement was using.

Stranger things have happened.

3. By that standard practically anyone could get it.
Maybe Gore does have a chance?

4. It is all about no one candidate winning on the first ballot...
... because after the first ballot many delegates are released from voting for the candidate they were elected to support.

Certainly is a possibility.

Certainly not a given, but a possibility.

6. I love how people
root for scenarios where somebody OTHER than the candidate who got the most votes wins. Many are the same people who complain about how undemocratic the primary/caucus system is.

8. And the people at the convention are going to be the core base -- those
who don't get their information from commercials during American Idol but truly read and understand the candidate's platforms.

10. Don't forget the superdelegates. He has to get enough delegates so that the superdelegates can't
play king maker.

11. not even a remote possibility
Are you guys really this desperate and out of touch? I'm a strong Obama supporter, but I will vote for Clinton if she's the nominee. And judging the real world by DU is a HUGH mistake.

12. If that is indeed the case, we will be running out the clock

America really can't afford another four or eight years of corporate ruled POTUS.

Help us all.

14. My folks told me about the good old days at the state convention!

Walkouts, rump conventions on the lawn (held by said delegates who walked out), fistfights on the convention floor, Dad getting bashed in the head with a handbag by some old woman.....

the good old days of the NINETEEN-FIFTIES!!!

They were delegates for a Hispanic person for Governor.

The days before apathy! :)
