Happy Birthday, Benjamin Franklin, an American Riddler
Edited on Thu Jan-17-08 02:06 PM by IdesOfOctober
I love all things http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=benjamin+franklin+birthday">Benjamin Franklin.

That http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=benjamin+franklin+paris">old coot really knew how to work it in Paris.

As my best friend brought to my attention, he is now widely recognized as http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=benjamin+american+guesser">The American Guesser. Riddle me this? What other Founder even comes close?

As We the People blog away, we remember The Guesser on his special day!

1. Huzzah To Dr. Franklin!
At the time of the Revolution, the world saw Franklin and Washington as the fathers of the Americn Experiment (as it was often called). Franklin was the brains, Washington the power.

"The History of our Revolution will be one continued lye from one end to the other. The essence of the whole will be that Dr. Franklin's electric rod smote the earth and out sprang General Washington. Then Franklin electrified him... and thence forward those two conducted all the Policy, Negotiations, Legislations, and War." - John Adams, Professional Grumbler

I will drink a toast to Franklin tonight!

2. John Adams was a curmudgeon, all right.
I think he must've made a diet of persimmons and parsley.

P.S. More than one Lodge will mark his birthday twice.
