Silence regarding corporate interference in the electoral process does not impress me whatsoever.
Edited on Thu Jan-17-08 11:24 AM by Peake
Dennis Kucinich was invited to and then prevented from joining a televised debate. General Electric own the networks involved.

What do the "three main" democratic candidates have to say about a giant corporation that owns media outlets having a say in who is heard by America? And thus having a say in who is elected?

I'm highly interested in each of the candidates' (nonexistent) replies to this extremely important question. Where is the Democracy? Have we simply accepted that it's just gone and won't be returning?

Edit for spelling.

I'm afraid that for most Americans there was never a truer statement than the above. The only way that Democracy can be revived in this country, will be when all Americans stand up and take notice of what is really happening. It would seem that unless something directly affects most Americans, they fail to get involved.

I strongly believe that this is the truth.

Change the recipe for Coca-Cola and they'll come out in droves.

Ask for only 250,000 signatures to start impeachment proceedings against those who are destroying the nation, and you get 185,000 instead.

2. Yesterday, Dennis said on Amy's show that Obama spoke up
on his behalf. I don't follow the Obama campaign and so didn't catch it.

5. Thanks, that's good news. I now hope that they do more than speak up.
This is major. This is horrible. Where is the outrage on the part of our lawmakers?

3. Just follow the FCC hearings. The chairman wants to allow...
more consolidation without any limit. The Dems mouth off, and could easily get some laws passed to prevent it. But we have our own set of corporate ass-kissers who let this go on.

6. Our media in this country is way too powerful, and their corporate owners

have their own best interests in mind.

That's why we are expected to just accept the fact that the media gets to choose which candidates appear at debates, and which candidates are worthy enough for press coverage in the media.

You can ignore candidates like Kucinich and Edwards, all the while covering Obama and Clinton in nauseating detail. And what does that say to the masses? It says that Kucinich and Edwards are not true candidates, they don't stand a chance, and they don't deserve the precious air time that Obama and Clinton receive.

In short, the media is electing our next President for us by process of elimination. And they don't care which one it is, because both of them will serve the needs of the corporate ownership just fine.

Which should scare the ever lovin' shit out of Americans, but it doesn't, they just go along thinking they've made an educated decision, ignorant of the fact that once again, they've been manipulated.

Congratulations, America. :eyes:

7. People prefer simple messages: Bush gone, the next puppet will be better
It requires less thinking, research, activism, etc, and relies on the same old/same old: sit back and let "experts" handle things while they have fun participating in their phony, largely illusory "spectator" democracy.

"Meet the new boss...same as the old boss"

Just to see if they'd actually cover it.

11. I've been suggesting for years that we all need to scream about this.
If we do, they'll run like the cowards they are. If we do nothing, they'll take everything.

13. Provided the people have the numbers. Too small a group will be deemed "terrorists," or...
"Giving aid to the enemy by disrupting our LIBERAL media system," etc etc

You know it.

They won't get my vote or my money.
