Former GOP Congressman Charged With Aiding Terrorsts
Holy Shit! Read This!

A former congressman and delegate to the United Nations was indicted Wednesday as part of a terrorist fundraising ring that allegedly sent more than $130,000 to an al-Qaida and Taliban supporter who has threatened U.S. and international troops in Afghanistan.

Mark Deli Siljander, a Michigan Republican when he was in the House, was charged with money laundering, conspiracy and obstructing justice for allegedly lying about lobbying senators on behalf of an Islamic charity that authorities said was secretly sending funds to terrorists.

A 42-count indictment, unsealed in U.S. District Court in Kansas City, Mo., accuses the Islamic American Relief Agency of paying Siljander $50,000 for the lobbying — money that turned out to be stolen from the U.S. Agency for International Development.

1. Eh?? This makes no sense to me.
I'm guessing this is yet another case of some guy giving money to a charity that is somehow connected with some Muslim group that is somehow connected to some alleged terrorist group.

I'm shocked that Siljander hasn't been tossed in Gitmo, never to be heard from again.

4. Just when you think you've seen it all in American politics...
...here comes this guy.

A republican who once called himself "a poster boy for Jerry Falwell" and evangelical christian, who sponsored a (failed) amendment that tried to deem an unborn child a "person" from the moment of conception (which Al Gore voted for - wtf?) and once called the Qur'an a book of the devil. And now he's busted for aiding Islamic terrorists? (all this according to Wikipedia)

Wow. What a country.
